popGeezer Radio Celebrates 4 Years On The 'Net! / Elvis Week 2013 Kick-Off!
We have two events to celebrate this Sunday - August 11th - on popGeezer Radio here at the Mothership, JDX1029.com!
First, it's our 4th anniversary on internet radio. We began on August 14, 2009, and we're still here - somehow - 4 years later! Our show has been on the Mothership, with only a smidgen of an interruption, since December 4, 2009, as well. We'll look back a bit this week, but we're more focused on the future, continuing the music, facts and fun that have been the backbone of the show since the very beginning.

A Statement From JDX1029.com
In December of 2009, the all-volunteer staff of this station
put JDX1029.com on the air. Perhaps naively, we felt there was only one rule...
that there were no rules. A station which we paid for was ours to do with as we
chose. We were fiercely dedicated to the spirit of free speech and made it clear
we were operating in a "politically incorrect" zone.
But there are
limits. There are lines not to cross, and someone associated with JDX1029
crossed one.
JDX1029.com sincerely apologizes for the racially insensitive
language and behavior on a now-closed
message board that was associated with our station. Our online airwaves are not
and will not be used for language that is racially inflammatory or insensitive
or homophobic. That is our promise to
you.
We have formally disassociated the individual in question
from our station. That will be our ongoing policy in dealing with any of our
volunteer staff using language that is clearly insensitive on matters of race
or sexual orientation on our airwaves, our official webpage, or any public website officially sanctioned by JDX1029.
Having made this crystal clear, let us now make something
else clear.
JDX1029.com has taken these steps because it
was the right thing to do, the action touched on subjects that were totally
indefensible, and there was no "excuse" or context that could make it
otherwise.
But JDX1029.com is still a politically incorrect zone. We
will still be stupid, we will still be silly, and we will still play music and
spoken-word material that pushes our constitutionally-protected right to
freedom of expression to the very wall.
