"Remembering Casey Kasem" On This Week's popGeezer Radio

Last Sunday, we lost a true radio icon, Casey Kasem. His influence on at least two generations of radio professionals is massive. On our blog, we have tributes to him from our Cadillac Jack, your popGeezer and he was inducted into our site's Hall of Fame.

This week, we continue paying tribute with a special episode of popGeezer Radio. Using the American Top 40 year-end broadcast of the top hits of 1979 as our base, we add in all kinds of extra gems from Casey's amazing career behind the microphone. Please join us Sunday 6/22 at 5 PM CT on the Mothership!

"Radio is a sound salvation
Radio is cleaning up the nation
They say you better listen to the voice of reason
But they don't give you any choice
'cause they think that it's treason.
So you had better do as you are told.
You better listen to the radio."

It Was Fifty Years Ago "Today"... popGeezer Radio Gets Ready For "1964: BI50" On The Mothership!

February 7, 1964. The Beatles land at JFK, and, as far as "pop", nothing would ever be the same. popGeezer Radio will remember the arrival of the Fab Four and the transformative pop of 1964 with a multi-part special starting on February 2, 2014.

But - to get you ready for that - we spend all January reliving the decade of all this wonder - the 1960's.

It's "Talking 'Bout A Revolution: The 1960's", all month long from popGeezer Radio!

1/5/2014: Part 1, "The Rise of The New Frontier"
1/12/2014: Part 2, "Camelot Falls, Liverpool Rises"
1/19/2014: Part 3, "The Beatles' Summers of Love"

It's Ho-Ho-Holiday Time on popGeezer Radio!!!

Starting this Sunday, 12/8, popGeezer Radio kicks off three consecutive weeks of Holiday specials! This weekend it's an encore of our mellow 2012 "Calm & Bright Christmas Hootenanny" - originally aired live on The Mothership!

On 12/15, the first all-new program turns up. popGeezer.com's very own TV critic par excellence, Cadillac Jack, has pulled his broadcasting microphone out of mothballs, and his two-decades of radio experience are re-displayed for all to hear in "Cadillac Jack's 'No More Grandmas' Very Special Christmas Special"! Using his own legendary holiday CD gifties as inspiration, CJ crafts almost three hours of eclectic modern holiday tunes, a few gags, and a list of the 5 most awful Christmas songs of all time.

Finally, on 12/22, your very own popGeezer unleashes his 2013 elf's brew, "The 2013 (Mostly) Contemporary Christmas", which will use mostly tracks from 2007 and up, with a smattering classic holiday material. There will be some of the achingly inappropriate goodies you've come to expect, but also lots of pretty pretty songs. All of these shows premier on Sundays (12/8, 15 & 22) at 5 PM CT on JDX1029.com, the Mothership of Rock Radio!!

And if you stop by my trusty old popGeezer Radio stream anytime during the rest of December, you'll hear tracks from the super-poppy 2013 popGeezer Radio Hot 100!! JDX1029.com & the popGeezer Radio network will keep you rocking all December long!!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from popGeezer Radio!!!
